Day Care Centre De Kattekop

General information

DeKattekop was established in 1980, which makes it one of the oldest day care centres in Leiden. De Kattekop is open exclusively to staff members and students of Leiden University. At least one of the parents/caretakers must be enrolled as a student, or employed by Leiden University or by one of its related institutions.

Since 1994, the day care centre has been housed in a specially designed, modern and well-equipped building next to the Faculty of Social and Behavioural Sciences, on the Wassenaarseweg.

In addition to the spacious and light rooms, the day care centre also has at its disposal a number of outdoor areas, such as the baby patio and a large playground for toddlers. The characteristically calm and relaxed atmosphere is what makes De Kattekop so exceptional.

The day care centre has two baby groups and two toddler groups. The baby groups can daily accommodate nine children between the ages of 8 weeks and 1 1/2 to 2 years; the toddler groups can accommodate thirteen children between the ages of 1 1/2 and 4 years.

De Kattekop is a professional day care centre and, as such, is officially registered by the Leiden municipal council. The staff consists of qualified workers who care for and guide the children in line with a pedagogical policy plan. Continuous improvement of staff skills is an important tool in ensuring the continued high quality of care.
